The evening will feature the tri-state area's finest poets and wordsmiths.

There will be two types of tickets: The general admission ticket which is $10.00 at the door, includes wine and finger foods.

The second ticket which is not available at the door and is prepaid before the event is the VIP $20.00 Ticket. This includes: VIP Seating in front of the stage, champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. The VIP section has twenty seats and they are first come, first serve, first pay, no exceptions. To pay and get your name on the VIP list you must see Tehsuan, Baki, or Steve to pay and secure your seat.

Cigar Lounge Etiquette

I was fortunate enough to be a guest on a radio show with my good friend and fellow cigar smoker SeriousBok from Broad & Luxe, and the segment of the show was called Cigars and Scotches, with a segway to Cigar Lounge Etiquette, in which I dropped some jewels for the listeners. After the show was over, and we were tweeting about it, and my good friend Ryan (BOTSRyan) from BOTSCAST- Black Ops Tobacco Society had a post about this and I wanted to share it with everyone.... Read it and tell me if you agree.

You know, it just absolutely boggles my mind that there are guys out there who strut into a cigar shop/lounge, toting a cigar they purchased elsewhere. This guy is easily identified: Button-down shirt (what the heck is Beverly Hills Polo Club?), top 3 buttons are mandatorily open. Cuffs of a contrasting color are folded once, crisply and not buttoned. He’s rocking the heck out of a gaudy, yellow gold bracelet that is 2 sizes too big, and every few seconds he jerks his wrist to adjust it. This guy will sit in a chair like it was owed to him, only after brushing off the seat with his hand. He will lift his dark blue, distressed boot cut jeans a little before sitting (I don’t know what that motion is called), revealing white athletic socks and slip on ”Italian” loafers/driving mocs. He licks the end of his cigar, then demands a house cutter and lighter. Yeah..of course he uses the house cutter after slobbering all over it. There is a real negative side effect of fine cigars that seem to affect a few bags of douche out there. What is it about a cigar that transforms one into a walking taint..grundle…perineum? This guy also likes to pocket the table lighter, feels the urge to get up to spit frequently, talks loudly about financial endeavours that are un-cleverly contrived, and loves to bother everyone else surrounding him, trying to get anyone to engage him in a conversation he can dominate. After that he’ll snuff out his cigar in the ashtray like an over-sized cigarette. So, ok…I’m a bit of a hater, so why not turn my evil, into good? Ok I will try, but the rage is strong my friends…
Here is the deal…You can’t be “that guy”. I wanted to give a nice little list of all the appropriate behaviors of a human inside a tobacco shop/ cigar lounge..But here’s the deal: EVERYONE KNOWS THEM. Better yet, they are instinct..Those like me, who are unsure at times, will ask questions. Except for aforementioned douchebag. For these types, there is no help. Just set them on fire when they infiltrate your sanctuary. There may be a grey area in the unspoken code though, hovering over guys that drop shitloads of money in an establishment, rent an overpriced locker there, and bring the guy behind the counter lunch and a cigars all the time..Those guys are probably permitted to do whatever they want, rightfully so. ..Here is an overlooked query though: Ok, we know what NOT to do in a cigar lounge while smoking a cigar…I say cigar lounge because; like it or not Brothers of the Briar, cigar sales are keeping these Brick and Mortar operations open, and the lounges are there for the cigar smokers. Pipe smokers are always welcome, if you can stand up to a little razz once in awhile, and don’t mind humbly answering a few questions about your hobby. What is the pipe smoking etiquette for a lounge? Must we smoke only a pipe purchased at that location? I wouldn’t think..But I would think it may grease the wheels a little bit (I’m sure I didn’t use that analogy in the right context) if we came in with an empty pipe, and smoked a tobacco purchased at that establishment. Possibly with a lighter and tamper purchased there as well. In many lounges, tobacconists have just a small section for pipes/pipe tobacco. It is really just a courtesy, as they are not making a bulk of profits from that sort of thing, so it’s really on us to follow the rules of the lounge. Here’s another one..I haven’t run into any personally, but what about a FULL SERVICE lounge/shop? This place sells everything tobacco: Cigarettes, cigars, pipes, smokeless…If they have a lounge, is it available to the guy that just bought a sleeve of dip, or a carton of cigs? I live in the Northeast where restrictions are pretty tight, so I don’t see that sort of thing at all.
So take me to tobacco charm school, or finishing school..Whatever you want to call it. Stay classy tobacco users, for there is just a tacky gold necklace with an Italian Corno amulet separating us, from the savages.

Chess Night Coming To Barrister Cigars

This month's Game Night will be on Saturday, January 21 from 10pm to 2am. Your host for the event will be Brian AKA Big Dash. The Barrister Cigar store will be hosting a paintball trip on December 10, 2011 in Jim Thorpe Pa. We will meet in the Barrister parking lot 6am and the van will leave at 6:30 SHARP, and returning when it gets nightfall.

Individual – $29.95
Includes: admission to the fields, gun, goggles, facemask, unlimited N2 air fills, field judges, and all day play
All players must have a signed liability waiver in hand.

Paintballs

All players must use Skirmish USA paint. The average player shoots approximately 750 paintballs a day. Our paint rates are as follows:

As a DJ and hip-lover growing up I was always a fan of EPMD. Later on they came out with a record in 1999 called 'Symphony 2000 Ft. Redman, Method Man, and Lady Luck. Now... If your a true EPMD fan you know they had one femcee (female MC) in the Hit Squad, but she didn't work out, so who's this new femcee?

So, I was like okay, lemme check this out, As soon as Luck started her 16 with 'Miss stop drop and roll...' I said to myself N.J. has a new female MC.

Shanel Jones Aka Lady Luck was born right here in the great state of N.J. At 17 she signed a record deal with Def Jam Records and her career was off the races. Not exactly though. She endured bumps in the road and her career took a turn in another direction. Since then she's been on numerous radio and TV shows and been in countless rap battles notably the one with her and Remy Ma (google it) and personally I think Luck KILLED her.

Since meeting Luck last year, I admire her perseverance to keep doing what she loves, to be a great MC whether female or male, and she's coming back armed with a squad, and a new album to get back her place among the greatest MC's.

I must say I have been a Blackberry owner for many years and I love every phone I have had be it Blackberry or IPhone. This is not a BB vs. IPhone debate, for me they all have their own attributes. That being said...

Let us have a chat about one of the best features ever created on Blackberry....

BBM!! The incomperable messenger loved by millions and I am one of those millions.

I believe it's a wonderful way to make friends and keep in touch with your people. Now!... Sadly not many use it for it's intent. I am no prude by any chance and I love making friends but sadly I have come to realize, very few have any knowledge on BBM what friendship is supposed to be about or how a friendship begins. So many of the people on BBM are a bunch of sexually deprived perverts it makes me want to gag. There is hardly a conversation before the clown on the other end is sending you a pic of his deflated d*ck. Or confronting you with the dreaded ASL.

So here is my answer to that:

1. You can certainly tell I'm not a kid by my picture.
2. you can tell I'm female by my picture, unless you're blind.
3. I don't know yo ass so I'm not telling you where I live.

Does that clear it up any?

I am clearly exhausted of the sad ass low ballin men trying to get at my panties before they even look at my face, not respecting my relationship status and especially not respecting the fact that I already told you in my tagline not to come at me sideways.

Do any of you really think that I am looking for a decrepid,sad ass, direspectful, d*ck whipping fool to spend my life with? Really?? Come on now.
My advice to all of you is this, If you have any inkling of any idea on how to treat a woman THAT'S NOT IT. Not a respectable one anyhow.

Get a grip and preferably not on your d*ck. Learn to speak to a womans mind and leave the d*ck for when she calls for it. Grow up, you are not 13 and I'm certain your hormones can be controlled. If they can't, know that I am not the one.

Hypnotic Harmonie- Royalty Release- Networking Party

It's that time of year for networking again! What a better way to end the year with a bang and give your business a jump start and connect with like minded people. On October 29th, 2011 I'll be doing it again at the Barrister Lounge.

Same concept as before, I will introduce you to new and existing company's, and you will get to try a new drink from Hpnotiq called Harmonie. My last event was successful because people are concerned about their business and taking it to the next level, and capitalizing on the American dream.

I'm always looking for new and different places to see. I get an email about a new rooftop bar opening up in the Thompson Hotel in Columbus Circle in New York. I arrive to the hotel greeted by two doorman that open the doors wide and say "Welcome to the 6" I walk in to the concierge and tell the host, " I'm going to the 6". She walks me to a private elevator with a swipe card and puts in a secret code and off I go...

I arrive 15 floors later to the rooftop, walking out to the lounge with couch's filled with plush pillows and dimly lit candles, and a gorgeous view of Manhattan and Columbus Circle. I find a seat to sink down into, and the bartender walks up with an extensive bar menu...

This place is awesome... The drinks are reasonably priced, the vibe is cool, the decor is sheik all in a nice way. This is a getaway tucked away for someone looking for a calm place to lounge or an intimate get away for you and yours...

Just like the title say's, BIKE NIGHT IS COMING TO BARRISTER CIGARS! Starting Thursday May 5th, and every Thursday until the end of the Summer! You can hang out, get something to eat, listen to some music, hangout with other bikers and bike clubs, and they'll be a different dj every week spinning the latest tunes!

Last night I had the pleasure of being the Mixologist at The Barrister Lounge networking “Chocolate and Martini Night”. A packed house of entrepreneurs gathered to network and speak about their businesses while sipping on five signature martinis (apple, orange, cherry, chocolate & flirtini) made by yours truly. In addition to indulging in Martinis everyone had a chance to savor delectable assorted chocolate covered strawberries by Nia Hammond of The Sweetest Touch.

“Chocolate and Martini Night” was produced by entrepreneur and Barrister store manager, Steve Jennings. Steve opened the event speaking about the importance of giving small businesses a chance and supporting one another. It was inspiring to listen to everyone’s stories about entrepreneurship and the rewards of being your own boss.

I might of been a little heavy handed on the Martinis because the night concluded with a cigar smoked-filled room FIESTA! The event was a huge success and a great night for all who attended. Thanks again to Steve “The Smokologist” Jennings for hosting the event. Game Night at The Barrister Lounge

February 26, 2011 will be my first game night of the new year. This is a night where you can come bring your rivarly for any game and any person and battle it out. The games of the night will be Texas Hold'em (two tables), Domino's (double 6's & double 9's), Spades, Chess, and on the main tv screen I'm going to be doing something different. I was just recently in the city, and I was looking for a good place to eat and have a nice cold beer. I was told about a such place right under my nose on 33rd & 7th street called Stout NYC.
I walked in around noonish and was blown away by the high ceilings, old world feel and the 36' HDTV's across the bar. I was escorted to the bar, where I was given a front and back menu of the beers from across the world and the 25 different beers on tap.
When I saw they had my favorite beer and 4 different variations, I was given 4 glasses to try the different the flavors, and after I found the the one I wanted, I was poured a glass.
After putting in a order for my food, I walked around and saw the different levels and party rooms and when I walked downstairs, they had a 2 more bars, and another big room with more tv's in it. It's that time again, I am hosting a midnight and domino's event on Saturday October 9th, 2010 from 8pm to 2am. This is for all the fella's and the lady's.

I have 2 poker tables set up, one for tournament style play, based on house rules, and one for a cash game. And there will be also a domino table set up for double 6's and double 9's.

Football or Degrading Women

I was recently going thru the channels and I saw some scantily clad women running around in a commercial on some music channel. The commercial was so fast that I didn't really didn't get a chance to catch it.

But after seeing the commercial again a few days later i saw it was a commercial for women's football. I have no problem with women having their own sports, but this takes the cake. Let me ask you women this is a real sport or is this degrading?

In my opinion this is just a watered version of football with women running around with hockey style helmets, bras, panties. And from what I understand the sport caters to women who couldn't further their career in such sports as track & field, volleyball, soccer, basketball and so forth.

This week the Lakers received their championship rings and this year's rings are some of the flashiest yet. Several members of the Buss family and team captains Derek Fisher and Kobe Bryant weighed in on the design for the rings. The rings are made of a special limited 15K gold to celebrate the 15th championship. Dr. Jerry Buss requested the 14 round diamonds circling the top of the ring to represent 14 championships with the small gold trophy on the top representing the 15th. The team captains requested that each player have their own face and jersey number on the side of the ring. On non-player rings the Los Angeles skyline takes the place of the face. Each ring is authenticated by a serial number and there are hidden etchings of the Lakers logo on the ring. The diamond-studded top echoes the shape of the Staples center. Each ring comes with a box that has two LED spotlights inside. The 2009 Lakers championship rings were created by Jason of Beverly Hills and are worth about $30,000. Padron Family Reserve Cigar

Forty-five years ago, José Orlando Padrón formed the cigar company that bears his name. It’s true — Audi will unveil their R8 Spider at the Frankfurt Show next week, and although this news is no secret we now have images to tease what the model will look like. The new leaked images of the R8 Spider reveal a black canvas roof which will hide the rear-mounted engine.
The front will have a powerful-looking grille that features LED daytime running lights, while the rear will have LED lights. The tailpipes will be visible from the sides of the car, while there will then be a massive diffuser for air flow.

During Hot 97's Summer Jam on June 7, 2009 boasting a line up of superstars like Mary J. Blige, Jim Jones, Young Jeezy, and also newcomers such as Pleasure P, The Dream, and others the G.O.A.T. , Brooklyns finest Jay-Z came on stage, and dropped a bomb on everybody that was using auto-tune the past year, with a song called Death Of Auto-Tune.

His mature perspective is evident on the No I.D.-helmed "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune). He rails against one of the recent banes in music, Auto-Tune a.k.a. the Robot Voice, milked death by Kanye West and T-Pain. But Auto-Tune is just part of the problem. Jay-Z citing a lack of aggression in rap. More to the point, "D.O.A." seems to be about how too many emcees rap about being the best, but don't rap like they are the best. They lack soul and hunger. Everyone knows he's a famous rapper but what sets him apart from his peers is his dedication to the actual craft of rhyming. I recommend non-believers to consult the Jay-Z documentary Fade To Black. You'll become a fan.The message of "D.O.A." is clear:Hip-hop needs more Jay-Zs and less trend-humping rappers.

Hublot Big Bang King Black Blue Watch

Does this watch make you think of a black eye? Well it isn't an eye sore, but rather the Hublot Big Bang King All Black Blue watch.

Hublot has been messing with various colors for the standard Big Bang chronograph line lately, but I haven't see this type of attention on the Big Bang King which is a diver's style watch - and larger at 48m wide. I have to admit that I really think this is a sexy watch - somehow adding a virulent character to the otherwise somber color tone.

Diver watch elements on the Big Bang King include the 300 meters of water resistance, diver's style face with large legible dial, and the rotating diver bezel, of course. Here the bezel is made out of matte finished ceramic. The bezel numerals are in an attractive high relief that I am a fan of. The blue on the hands and hour indicators seems to almost exist only on the periphery, though you can tell the insides are colored black, the edges are all deep blue. You also have the blue insert between the bezel and the case. Most of the watch is in matte ceramic. Inside is the HUB1400 automatic movement. The blue alligator strap actually sandwiches a layer of rubber that makes it more flexible. Looking at the dial (sandblasted and rhodium plated) with the blues and black just makes for a great looking Hublot watch. Now that I think of it, as a diver watch I imagine the cold abyss of the ocean with colors such as this. The watch is available in a limited edition of 500 pieces.

Mind you, you might have a group of women doing this all at once. Select the one that meets with your idea of fun and good talk. Use your commonsense. Sometimes you may be roped into engaging with all of them as they check you out for a friend in that group. Be obliging.

React quickly if she looks bored or annoyed with her company. The guys she came with are belligerent and touching her and she has no out. This is your best situation to be the knight in shining armor. You don't even need visual contact! Just walk over there and say, "How'd you like to come sit with me/us?" or "There's an empty seat next to me if you need it." You can skip down to the conversation part if you're lucky enough to find one of these. Ask her what on earth she was discussing with those bullish guys and get her a good stiff drink.

Make eye contact. You've already established that she is available, so keep telling yourself that. This next step is key. If she looks at you and you look away nervously, good luck to you. You've already made a bad first impression. Keep a relaxed, flirtatious gaze. Don't stare and don't lock up and look like a psycho. Also don't flash a huge, fake grin. Just move your head however feels natural and smile a bit--whatever feels natural. If she looks away shyly, that's good. If she gives you a seductive stare, that's even better. If she looks away and looks freaked out, better find someone else.

Look away for a second or two to give her time to think about you. She has noticed that you're available and that you like her. She's thinking about whether she likes you back. Don't take too long. Between ten seconds and a minute. Whatever feels right. Take a deep breath, relax, think happy thoughts. She was intrigued by you, remember?

Clear your mind. Breathe. That oxygen is going to help you think on your toes and help you relax. Gulp it down politely. She may wonder if you are a fish otherwise.

Glance over at her again. If she's chatting with her friends and still has her eye on you, congratulations. If she's looking at you comfortably, congratulations. If she purposely avoids eye contact, she either has myopia or she just hasn't felt the spark her end. Approach somebody else or offer to put her glasses back on.

Keep eye contact as you approach. Don't stare and don't trip over anything as you walk toward her. Stay relaxed and focused. Have a sense of purpose. Don't let all the people who are in your way discourage you. Remember, we have already established that she likes you. If you blow it now, it's all your fault. Although, never underestimate the endearing quality of a guy who trips over in pursuit of love. It can be retold for years afterwards and who knows, it may just end in marriage.

Smile casually and say something casual. Remember, you are a stranger. There is no need to say something elaborate but at least form the words clearly - don't mumble or spit in anticipation.

Dickies are not dress pants

I've noticed a strange fashion trend here in New Jersey. The guys have started to wear Button Down Dress Shirts and Hard Shoes with Dickies. WTF? Correct me if I am wrong. Dickies are work pants always have been, putting hard shoes and a shirt doesnt actually work for pants that are mainly for working in a Pep Boys Auto Store. Stop being cheap and purchase some real slacks at Marshalls, Burlington, TJ Maxx and any discount department store. No one is gonna know if they came from Macy's or not, and with this recession nobody is really checking for labels, it's just wrong.
