Raising them. Letting them burn.
You’ve always fallen more in the “sunbathe and eat a delicious meal on them” camp...
So ascend to The NoMad Rooftop, from the chef behind the of-the-moment NoMad Hotel restaurant (not to mention Eleven Madison Park), taking reservations Monday.
Think of this as the restless, outdoorsy cousin of EMP. It’s all about whims. The five-course menu will change every day and have nothing in common with the downstairs menu. About getting a table: no amount of waiting or ritual sacrifice will help you. It’s strictly same-day reservations.
Every day, the website will open up for reservations at 11am. You’ll be asked to buy a ticket for dinner (which takes care of the bill). Then, just show up.
When that elevator bell rings, you’ll emerge into a cocktail-filled antechamber of iridescent pillows and brown velour couches. Grab a seat—that’s where you’ll have the first course. Eventually you’ll be ushered out to a circular marble table for the duration. From there, it’s all breathtaking skyline, bronze cupola (that’d be the dome) and your eyes rolling into the back of your head from whatever game-changing, thrice-braised stuffed-chicken dish they’ve willed into existence that evening.
This does sound like my kinda place, then again it might sound like your kinda place as well.
